The SharePoint knowledge connector synchronizes supported content from Microsoft SharePoint into your Applaud knowledge base. Once synchronized, the AI Assistant can use that content to answer employee questions, support case work, and cite the original SharePoint document when it provides an answer.
Why use the SharePoint knowledge connector?
Many organizations already store HR policies, benefits information, manager guidance, and internal procedures in SharePoint. Connecting to SharePoint allows the AI Assistant to use this existing knowledge without recreating or maintaining duplicate content in Applaud.
How it works
At a high level, the connector follows this process:
- Connect your Microsoft SharePoint environment to Applaud.
- Select the SharePoint sites you want to synchronize.
- Synchronize supported content into the Applaud knowledge base on a scheduled basis.
- The AI Assistant retrieves relevant content and cites the original SharePoint source when appropriate.
Source documents remain in SharePoint. Applaud creates a searchable copy for knowledge retrieval without changing the original content.
Supported content
The connector can synchronize supported content from the SharePoint sites you select, including:
- Documents stored in document libraries
- SharePoint site pages
- Supported list content
Unsupported or temporary files are skipped during synchronization to help maintain a high-quality knowledge base.
What the connector doesn't do
The SharePoint knowledge connector synchronizes knowledge; it doesn't replace SharePoint.
It doesn't:
- Migrate or reorganize SharePoint sites.
- Manage SharePoint permissions.
- Replace SharePoint as the source of truth for your documents.
Continue creating and maintaining content in SharePoint. The connector keeps your selected content available to the AI Assistant through scheduled synchronization.
