English is the default interface language, but Applaud supports many other languages, which you can install. If you need a language not listed, please contact your Applaud support representative.
Important distinction: This article focuses on interface translation (menus, buttons, and other UI elements). For information about languages supported in AI chat conversations, please see our article Understanding Multi-Language Support in AI Chat, which explains how the AI handles different languages across channels like the portal, Teams, and Slack.
To install a language, see our knowledge base article, Install languages.
The Applaud platform supports internationalization and multiple languages. It includes features for Arabic and Hebrew users, such as right-to-left layout mirroring and bidirectional text. You can set the language for your users, so you don't need to update translations each time you make a change manually; this is handled automatically.
Example 1: Spanish language installed
- Admin installs Spanish on the Applaud settings page.
- User preference is set to Set automatically in Applaud.
- The browser language is set to Spanish.
Result: Applaud displays the UI in Spanish automatically.
Example 2: User-level language overrides
- If a user sets their language to Set automatically, Applaud follows the browser setting:
Browser language set to English. - If a user sets their language to French, the UI displays in French:
- If a user sets their language to Arabic, the UI displays in Arabic with right-to-left text:
Example 3: Islamic calendar support
Arabic users can choose dates using the Islamic calendar or switch to the Gregorian calendar.
Best practices
- Review translations: Machine translations may not always be accurate. Review key terms and adjust as needed.
- Test right-to-left layouts: Confirm Arabic and Hebrew screens display correctly, including navigation and forms.
- Limit dialects: Only enable regional dialects when necessary to avoid unnecessary duplication.
- Confirm calendar settings: For regions using Islamic calendars, test date pickers to ensure clarity for users.
- Communicate changes: Let users know when a new language is available so they can adjust their preferences.
