You can design pages that match your employees’ needs. A well-designed page makes it faster for employees to find information, complete tasks, and stay engaged without having to search through multiple systems. For example, you might build a page for requesting time off, an employee profile page, or a knowledge base with policies and guidance. Watch this video and explore the rest of the article to see what you can achieve with custom pages in Applaud.
Custom pages are made up of content blocks. You choose the data to capture or display and arrange them on the page to suit your goals. Each block serves a specific purpose, such as displaying a calendar of booked leave, capturing responses in a form, or showcasing helpful resources. By combining blocks, you create pages that make everyday HR processes more straightforward and more engaging for your workforce.
Content blocks
You can add different types of content blocks to a page. The table describes each type and how you might use it.
| Content block | Description |
|---|---|
| Calendar | An event or resource calendar with list, week, month or year views. For example, to show important company events or show a list of employees and their booked events. |
| Call to action | An advert-style block with text and a button that prompts employees to act. Example: a banner reminding employees to update their benefits. |
| Analytics | A chart that displays data from a model. For example, a bar chart of expense claims by month. |
| Detail | A read-only block that displays information from a model. Example: an employee’s job title and department details. |
| Document viewer | A block that lists documents and their associated records. Example: payslips linked to an employee’s profile. |
| Form | A block for collecting or updating information. Example: a leave request form. |
| Hierarchical | An organizational chart that shows reporting lines. Example: a team structure with managers and direct reports. |
| List | A block that presents values from a model. Example: a list of employees with quick links to view their profiles. |
| Login form | A sign-in block for candidates or employees, which can replace the default sign-in page. Example: a branded login page for job applicants. |
| Menu | A block with links to other pages in Applaud or external apps. Example: a menu linking to payroll, benefits, and learning resources. |
| Rich text | A block for formatted text, instructions, or helpful content. Example: a welcome message for new starters. |
| Search box | A block that lets employees search for information. Example: a search bar to find policies or colleagues. |
| Tabs | A block that organizes content in separate tabs. Example: an employee profile with tabs for personal details, job history, and documents. |
Page headers
Page headers are bits of data you want to highlight to the user. See our knowledge base article, About page headers.
Page actions - Links
You can add an action to your page or content block to open another page from within your Applaud platform or a link to an external app.
Menus
You can add pages to menus, which can appear in various places, such as the global burger menu, a sub-menu, or even as a context menu on a list item.

-
Request Time Off Page: This page has a form block, allowing employees to enter their leave request information.
- Employee profile page: This page uses a combination of rich text, list, and form blocks, plus a submenu for additional pages with employee details.
