Add menu items to your global or a sub-menu

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the menu you want to add items to or on a page with a submenu select the pencil icon next to the submenu.
  2. On the Menu items page, select ADD.
  3. On the Menu item dialog box, from the Link To options, select what you want your menu item to link to:

Container of Sub-items

To add a drop-down header with a list of links. This is useful if you want to include multiple categories on your menu.

  1. In the Label box, type in the name of your menu item container. For example, if you want to link to your employee directory, type in "Employee directory."
  2. From the Icon list, select an icon to illustrate the intent of your menu item. For example, if your menu item links to a user profile, you may choose an account icon.
  3. From the Icon color picker, select a color for the icon you chose.
  4. If you want to hide this menu on certain screen sizes or when accessed through a certain method, from the Restrict devices lists, select the screen size or access method.

Applaud cloud page

To add links to pages within the Applaud platform.

  1. From the Page list, select the page in your Applaud tenant you want to add to this menu.
    If you don't see the page you want, it might be that it is already used as a menu item in another menu. You can't use a page in your tenant in more than one menu. Except for the Tasks and Notifications pages.
    You can select the Task and Notification pages as menu items. However, when used in a page header the pages don't appear under the tabs. When you select the sub-menu Task or Notification menu items on a page header, Applaud opens the Task and Notification page in the same browser tab. To navigate back to your original page, you need to select the back button in the header.

  2. The Label is populated automatically. However, if you want to, you can amend it.
  3. To add this menu item to a Container of sub-items you have already added, from the Parent list, select the menu item where you want to add this item.
  4. From the Icon list, select an icon to illustrate the intent of your menu item. For example, if your menu item links to a user profile, you may choose an account icon.
  5. From the Icon color picker, select a color for the icon you chose.
  6. If you want to hide this menu on certain screen sizes or when accessed through a certain method, from the Restrict devices lists, select the screen size or access method.

External hyperlink

To add links to web pages outside of the Applaud platform.

  1. In the Hyperlink box, type in the URL address of the external web page you want to link to.
    Include the scheme of the URL, for example, https://www.google.com.
  2. If you want to open this external website in a new browser tab, select the New tab option. Otherwise, leave this clear to open the external website in the current browser tab.
  3. In the Label box, type in the text you want to appear for the link to the website.
  4. To add this menu item to a Container of sub-items you have already added, from the Parent list, select the menu item where you want to add this item.
  5. From the Icon list, select an icon to illustrate the intent of your menu item. For example, if your menu item links to a user profile, you may choose an account icon.
  6. From the Icon color picker, select a color for the icon you chose.
  7. If you want to hide this menu on certain screen sizes or when accessed through a certain method, from the Restrict devices lists, select the screen size or access method.
