Applaud provides several configurable menu options to help users navigate your platform quickly and easily. You can design menus to surface the most relevant pages and actions based on user needs and screen size.
Global menu
The global menu opens when users select the menu (burger) icon in the toolbar. It can include both a primary and a secondary section.
Use the global menu to:
- Highlight key pages and links that employees need frequent access to
- Provide consistent navigation across the platform
-
Ensure users can always reach important pages, since the menu is accessible from anywhere
Sub-menus
Sub-menus appear at the top of pages that are part of the global menu. They provide quick access to related content or actions that complement the main page.
You can also configure sub-menus to act as secondary actions for list items in a list block.
Mobile bottom navigation
On smaller screens, such as phones and tablets, Applaud automatically shows a bottom navigation bar. This provides quick access to selected pages while still allowing users to reach the global menu.
-
On tablets, the bottom navigation appears below the page content.
-
On mobile devices, the bottom navigation adapts to an app-style layout.
Best practices
- Prioritize key pages β Place your most frequently accessed pages (such as Home, Tasks, and Support) in the global or bottom navigation for quick access.
- Keep it simple β Avoid overcrowding menus. Group related items and use sub-menus for secondary content.
- Think mobile-first β Ensure your bottom navigation includes the most critical actions for users on the go.
- Be consistent β Use the same menu structure across devices so users donβt need to relearn navigation.
- Use clear labels β Choose short, descriptive names for menu items (for example, Tasks instead of My Assigned Tasks).
Tasks you can perform
- Add a new menu and choose your menu type
- Configure your sub-menu page header options
- Add your global menu as a primary or secondary menu in the burger menu
