The Slack channel lets employees access Applaud's AI assistant directly from Slack. Instead of switching between applications, employees can ask questions, find information, and complete supported HR requests where they already work.
Slack is one of several communication channels available in Applaud. It provides access to the same AI assistant and capabilities available through Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and the Employee Portal.
How the Slack channel works
After you connect a Slack workspace to Applaud, employees sign in using their Applaud account and interact with the AI assistant through direct messages (DMs), assistant threads, or supported Slack channels.
The assistant responds using your organization's configured knowledge sources, permissions, and Agent Tools. Responses are returned in the same conversation, with citations and supporting content when available.
What employees can do
Employees can:
- Ask HR and workplace questions using natural language.
- Start new conversations or continue existing threads.
- Mention the assistant in supported Slack channels.
- Upload supported files to provide additional context.
- View responses as they're generated.
- Expand citations to view supporting knowledge sources.
- Receive supported charts, diagrams, and images.
- Complete supported HR requests using configured Agent Tools.
- Provide feedback to help improve future responses.
Before you begin
- Employees must have an Applaud account before they can use the Slack channel.
- Users are prompted to sign in the first time they interact with the assistant.
- Available features depend on your tenant configuration, connected systems, and enabled Agent Tools.
- Some interactive experiences available in the Employee Portal aren't supported in Slack. Where possible, equivalent information is displayed using Slack-compatible content.
