When the AI Assistant includes a visual in a response, Microsoft Teams displays the visual as a static image in the conversation.
In the Employee portal and mobile app, Applaud visuals can be interactive. For example, employees can scroll through a carousel, explore a chart, or select an action. Teams doesn't support these interactive Applaud visuals, so Teams displays the same visual information as an image instead.
What employees see
A Teams response can include:
- Answer text - the AI Assistant's response, including sources when the response is grounded in knowledge.
- Visuals - charts, cards, lists, diagrams, and other visuals appear as images in the conversation.
- Generated files - documents such as letters or PDFs are provided as separate files, not as images.
What employees can and can't do

If an action is not available within the visual, the employee can continue the conversation with the AI Assistant or follow a link provided in the response.
What to expect
- The information stays the same. A visual contains the same information as the corresponding Applaud visual, but it isn't interactive in Teams.
- The layout is a snapshot. Long lists, carousels, and detailed charts are displayed as a single image.
- Actions are handled through the conversation. If a visual includes an action that isn't available in Teams, the AI Assistant can provide a link or continue the interaction through chat.
- Generated documents remain as files. A document or PDF generated by the AI Assistant is provided as a file rather than converted into an image.
- Sources remain available. When a response includes sources, they remain part of the Teams response rather than being included in the visual image.
How visuals appear across channels
The same AI Assistant can provide visuals through different channels. The format depends on what each channel supports.
