Discover SuccessFactors tools – Applaud Support

After you connect to SAP SuccessFactors, you can discover the capabilities available in your SuccessFactors tenant and choose which ones to turn into Applaud tools.

Discovery reads the information exposed by your SuccessFactors environment and creates a list of available capabilities. You can then select one and refine it into a tool that an assistant or workflow can use.

Note: Discovery shows what your SuccessFactors tenant exposes. The available capabilities can vary depending on your SuccessFactors configuration, permissions, licensing, and custom objects.

Before you begin

Connect SAP SuccessFactors

Discover available tools

Open Agent Tools.
Select Add tool.
On the Select a connection step, select your existing SAP SuccessFactors connection.
Continue to Discover.

Applaud retrieves the capabilities available from your SuccessFactors tenant and displays them in the discovery list.

Find a capability

Use the search and browse options to find the capability you need.

For example, if you want to create a tool that looks up employee information, look for people or user-related capabilities.

Choose a capability

When you find the capability you need:

Select it from the discovery list.
Review the available information.
Continue to Refine.

The selected capability becomes the starting point for your Applaud tool.

For example, you could select a User capability to create a tool that looks up an employee's job title, department, or person ID.

Note: Discovery does not create the finished tool. You configure the tool in Refine, where you can define its name, description, inputs, response, and other settings.

Types of capabilities

SuccessFactors can expose different types of capabilities.

Data lookups

Data lookup capabilities retrieve information from SuccessFactors.

You can use them to create tools that retrieve information such as:

Job title
Department
Person ID
Employment information
Team or organizational information

Actions

Some capabilities represent actions rather than data lookups.

You can use these to create tools for guided requests, such as updating information, when your SuccessFactors tenant exposes the required action.

Important: Discovery does not automatically create, update, or delete operations for every SuccessFactors object. The actions available depend on what your tenant exposes.

Your discovery results are tenant-specific

Discovery uses the capabilities exposed by your SuccessFactors tenant. This means:

Two customers can see different capabilities.
Custom MDF objects can appear alongside standard objects.
Permissions can affect what is available.
Discovery does not provide a fixed list of SuccessFactors capabilities for every customer.

If you cannot find the capability you need, ask your SuccessFactors administrator to confirm that it is available to the API user and exposed by your tenant.
