After you create a Workday connection, you can browse the available Workday services and discover the tools you can create.
Use this process to find the Workday capability you need before configuring it as a tool.
Before you start
Workday services available to you depend on your Workday tenant, configuration, security permissions, and connection.
Discover an operation
- Open Agents.
- Select the Tools tab.
- Select Add Tool.
- Open the Workday connection you want to use.
- Select Discover.
- Browse or search the available Workday services.
- Select a service to view its available tools.
- Select the tool you want to use.
- Review the tool details and confirm that it supports the capability you want to create.
For example, if you want to create a tool that retrieves employee information, you might start with the Human Resources service. For a time-off capability, you might look in Absence Management.
Choose a tool for the right purpose
Choose a tool based on the outcome you want the assistant or workflow to achieve.
For example:

The service name gives you the area of Workday to look in. The operation determines the specific capability you can turn into a tool.
If you can't find the tool you need
Not every Workday capability is available in every tenant.
If an expected tool isn't available, check:
- Whether the relevant Workday module or feature is enabled.
- Whether your Workday connection has the required access.
- Whether your Workday security permissions allow access to the operation.
- Whether another service provides the capability you need.
If the tool is available but doesn't provide exactly the experience you need, you might be able to configure or combine it with other tools as part of a broader assistant or workflow experience.
