Enable structured visuals and celebrations so the assistant can display cards, lists, charts, maps, organization charts, carousels, and milestone celebrations in conversations.
You enable visuals and celebrations by configuring agents. Structured visuals and celebrations use different settings.
| Capability | How you enable it |
How you enable it Where |
| Structured visuals (card, list, carousel, chart, map, organization chart) | Attach the appropriate Send Visual tools to a collaborator or workflow agent. | Agents or Workflow designer |
| Celebrations | Enable Ovation mode on the orchestrator agent. | Agents |
Mermaid diagrams don't require a visual tool. The assistant can include them in the message text when the agent's instructions allow.
Before you begin
- You must have the Experience Designer or Tenant Administrator role.
- Confirm the Send Visual tools are available in your tenant.
- Decide which collaborator or workflow agents should display visuals. The orchestrator doesn't use Send Visual tools.
- Decide whether the orchestrator should display celebration visuals during conversations.
Enable visuals on a collaborator agent
Use this procedure when a collaborator agent should display visuals during conversations.
- Open Agents.
- Edit an existing collaborator agent, or create a new one.
- Under Agent Tools, attach the Send Visual tools you need.
| Tool | Displays |
| Send Visual — Card | A single announcement or detailed item |
| Send Visual — List | A list, stepper timeline, or checklist |
| Send Visual — Carousel | A horizontal row of related cards |
| Send Visual — Chart | Charts and progress indicators |
| Send Visual — Map | One or more locations on a map |
| Send Visual — Organization Chart | A two-level organization chart |
- Update the agent instructions so it knows when to use each visual. For example, instruct it to display a task checklist and a chart for numerical comparisons.
- Save the agent.
Without Send Visual tools, the agent returns text responses only.
Enable visuals on a workflow agent
Use this procedure when a workflow step should display visuals while an employee completes the workflow.
- Open the workflow in the Workflow designer.
- Select the Agent action.
- Under Tools, search for Send Visual and attach the tools you need.
- Update the step instructions to describe when the assistant should use each visual.
- Wait until All changes saved appears, then select Publish.
Enable celebrations on the orchestrator agent
Celebration visuals, such as birthdays, work anniversaries, and promotions, are controlled by Ovation mode on the orchestrator agent.
- Open Agents.
- Edit the orchestrator agent.
- Enable Ovation mode.
- Save the agent.
When Ovation mode is enabled, the orchestrator can display celebration visuals during conversations.
What employees experience
| Channel | Experience |
| Applaud web and mobile app | A short message followed by a full-screen celebration animation. |
| Microsoft Teams, Slack, and Outlook email | A static image of the celebration. |
Verify the configuration
After you finish configuring agents:
- Start a test conversation in Applaud web or the mobile app.
- Ask the assistant for content that should be visualized, such as an onboarding checklist, headcount chart, or office map.
- Confirm that the expected visual appears and that interactive features work.
- If you enabled celebrations, trigger a milestone celebration and confirm that it appears as expected.
If the assistant returns text instead of a visual, check that:
- The correct agent has the required Send Visual tools attached.
- The agent instructions specify when to use each visual.
- You published the workflow after making workflow changes.
