Multiple types of blocks are available to help you build pages rapidly. Please read our knowledge base article, Blocks, to understand block concepts and how to create or edit blocks.
This section details each type of block and the block type-specific properties. The core blocks available to use are:
- Advert block: displays a single advert or a randomized advert from a predefined group
- Blocks block: groups multiple child blocks together using sub-tabs
- Chart block: embedded analytics showing a chart
- Detail block: used to show the details of a single item
- Document block: an embedded PDF viewer that shows a single PDF document
- Feed block: shows an RSS or Atom newsfeed
- Form block: contains an editable online form; can also be configured to show a submitted form in view-only
- HTML block: Raw HTML that can be displayed in a block
- List block: a list of data
- Search block: faceted search results from the global search
- Search box block: a call-to-action search text input
- Twitter block: An embedded Twitter feed
You will mostly use these blocks when creating your custom pages.
Additionally, several application feature blocks are available. These provide pre-built application features, which you can use to add capabilities to your pages quickly. These application-feature blocks have been pre-built by Applaud leveraging one or more of the above blocks:
- About me block: a small box that allows for employee entry of a bio (built using an HTML block + other blocks to support the editing)
- Assignment list block: a list of assignments, typically Direct Reports (built using a list block)
- Contacts block: a list of contacts (built using a list block + other blocks to support the editing)
- Flexible block: a list, form, or raw HTML (built using either a list, form, or HTML block + other blocks to support the editing)
- Mini-hierarchy: a mini-hierarchy (built using a list block)
- Links: links to other sites or Oracle functions (built using a list block)
- Notes: free-text notes stored against the person (built using a list block + other blocks to support the editing)
- Orgchart: a graphical org chart visualization (a flash component, not a new block type)
- Payslip: current and past digital payslips (built using a document block)
- Recruitment: a hiring manager module to post jobs, sift applicants, and create offers (a flash component, not a new block type)
- Tags block: tags for a given person (built using a form block)
- Worklist: view and action workflow notifications (built using a list block)
