Need to work with your data outside Applaud? You can easily export model data into a spreadsheet to view, edit, or share. Once you're done making changes, you can import the updated file back into the model to keep everything in sync.
What you can do with model data exports
- 🧾 Back up your data before making big changes
- ✏️ Edit multiple records in bulk using familiar spreadsheet tools
- 📤 Share data with colleagues or external systems
- 🔄 Prepare for re-import after cleaning or updating values
What gets exported?
When you export a model:
- Each row is an instance (a single record)
- Each column represents a model property (like name, email, or status)
- Property values are shown in plain text or reference format (e.g., display labels for lookups)
Things to keep in mind
- The exported file is in CSV format, ready to open in Excel or Google Sheets
- Please don’t change or remove column headers unless you plan to map them manually during import
- Keep the instance ID (if present) unchanged — that’s how Applaud knows which record to update
Example use case
Combine exports with filters to export only a specific subset of your data, like all active employees or overdue tasks.
Let’s say you need to:
- Export a list of users
- Update everyone’s job title or department
- Import the file back to reflect the changes in Applaud
You’ve just performed a full update using data exports and imports, without touching each record individually.
