When the AI Assistant includes a visual in an Outlook response, the visual appears as a static image in the email body.
In the employee portal and mobile app, Applaud visuals can be interactive. Email doesn't support these interactive widgets, so Outlook displays the same information as an image instead.
How visuals appear
A visual can appear within the response or below the message text, depending on where AI Assistant includes it.
Employees can:
- View the information shown in the visual.
- Read charts, cards, diagrams, and other supported visuals directly in the email.
- Keep the visual with the email for future reference.
Employees can't interact with the visual in the same way they can in the employee portal or mobile app. For example, they can't:
- Select buttons or actions within a visual.
- Scroll or interact with a carousel.
- Pan or zoom an interactive map.
- Use other interactive controls provided by a web or mobile visual.
If an AI Assistant response includes an action that isn't available in the email, the employee can continue the conversation by replying to the email or following a link included in the response.
Visuals and attachments
Visuals are displayed within the email body.
If the AI Assistant generates a document or another supported file, that file is provided as an email attachment instead.
What employees should expect
The Outlook channel uses the same AI Assistant and visual capabilities as other supported channels, but the format varies by channel.
| Channel | Visual experience |
| Employee portal and mobile app | Interactive visuals |
| Outlook | Static images in the email body |
