The Workday Workers template provides a predefined starting configuration for synchronizing worker data from Workday through an Employee Feed.
Use this article to create a Workday Employee Feed from the predefined template instead of configuring the feed from scratch.
Before you begin
- Confirm that Workday is the system of record for the workforce you want to synchronize.
- Make sure an Applaud connection to Workday is available for the feed. One connection can support multiple feeds.
- Confirm that you have permission to create and manage Employee Feeds. See Employee Feeds permissions.
For Workday-side connection requirements, see Establish a Workday connection.
When to use the template
Use the Workday Workers template when:
- You synchronize worker data from Workday through a polling feed.
- You want a predefined starting configuration instead of mapping every field manually.
Create a feed without the template when:
- You use a custom API.
- You use a spreadsheet or webhook connector.
- Your source doesn't have a predefined template.
Create a feed from the Workday Workers template
- Open Employee Feeds.
- Start creating a new feed.
- Select the Workday Workers template.
- Select the Workday connection to use for the feed.
- Review the predefined field mappings.
- Adjust the mappings for your tenant as needed. Make sure the employee identifier uses a stable value from Workday.
- Review the lifecycle event settings.
- Enable only the events your organization needs.
- Save the configuration.
- Preview the mappings and run a sample synchronization before using the feed in production.
Understand the first synchronization
The first full synchronization updates employee records but doesn't publish lifecycle events.
This prevents existing employees from triggering onboarding and similar workflows when the feed first runs.
If you need to validate lifecycle events, use a later synchronization or a controlled test change after the initial synchronization.
Next steps
- Monitor synchronization activity to review synchronization history, record outcomes, and event delivery. See Monitor Employee Feed activity.
- Review lifecycle events if you need to change which events the feed publishes. See Configure lifecycle events.
- Update field mappings if your Workday data or Applaud requirements change. See Configure field mappings.
