The AI Assistant provides the most accurate responses when it can access clear, well-structured content. It uses indexing to convert documents into searchable information for real-time responses.
When content is indexed, users can find accurate answers quickly from the right sources. Not all file types are supported or indexed in the same way.
Use Knowledge Management content
For best results, connect the assistant to your Knowledge Management content rather than relying solely on uploaded documents.
Knowledge base articles are:
- Structured with clear headings and short sections
- Version-controlled and regularly reviewed
- Targeted to specific audiences using filters
This structure improves accuracy and ensures responses align with your organization’s policies.
Supported content types
The assistant indexes the following formats.
| Category | File types |
| Documents | .pdf, .docx, .txt, .csv, .doc, .ppt, .pptx, .odt, .odp, .rtf, .xls, .xlsx, .xlsb, .xlsm, .ods |
| Images | .jpg, .png, .tiff, .bmp, .gif, .webp, .ico |
Unsupported content types
Some content types can’t be indexed or require extra preparation:
Content type | Limitations |
| iFrame content | The assistant can’t read or search anything embedded via iframes. |
| Google Docs | These aren’t indexed directly. Export as PDF or Word for indexing. |
| Videos | Not indexed. Upload a text transcript in a supported format to make it searchable. |
