Install AskHR from the Slack App Directory

This article provides instructions on installing the existing AskHR application from the Slack App Directory.

Prerequisites

Before starting the installation process, ensure that you have the following:

• Slack Workspace: A Slack workspace where you intend to install the application.
• Admin Access: Administrator rights are available for your Slack workspace.
• Account Access: AskHR connects to the account. Ensure you have the URL and user account credentials to connect to.
• AI assistant setup: The AI assistant bot should be enabled on the application to connect to AskHR for Slack by enabling the checkbox ‘Use this bot to interact with external bots and generate responses.'

Step 1: Locate the Application in the Slack App Directory

1. Go to the Slack App Directory:
   • Navigate to the Slack App Directory through your web browser or within the Slack app.
2. Search for the ‘AskHR' Application:
   • Use the search bar to find the ‘AskHR' application to install.
3. Select the Application:
   • Click on the app from the search results to open its details page.

Step 2: Install the Application

1. Click on "Add to Slack":
   • On the app's details page, click "Add to Slack" to start the installation process.
2. Authorize the App:
   1. If required, review the permissions the app is requesting.
   2. Click Authorize to grant the app the necessary permissions within your workspace.
   3. Click on Open Slack to return to your workspace.
3. Verify Installation:
   • Ensure the app has been installed correctly by checking the Apps section in the Slack sidebar.

Step 3: Configure the Application

1. Access App Settings:
   • After installation, you may need to configure the app settings. To do so, go to "Apps" in your Slack sidebar, find the installed app, click on the About tab, and select Configuration.
2. Adjust Permissions:
   • If necessary, review and adjust the app's specific permissions or settings (e.g., who can use it, and what data it can access).

Step 4: Connect the Applaud instance to AskHR

1. Go to App Home:
   • In the Slack sidebar, navigate to "Apps," find the AskHR app, click the Home tab, and select Connect to Applaud.
2. Connect application:
   • Enter your Applaud instance URL (E.g., https://company-com.applaudcloud.com) and click Submit.

Step 5: Connect the Applaud user account

1. Go to App Home:
   • In the Slack sidebar, navigate to "Apps", find the AskHR app, click on the Home tab and select Connect your account.
2. Authorize with user account credentials
   • The application redirects to the Applaud instance URL to enter the user credentials to log in to the account.

Step 6: Test the the Application

• Test Key Features:
  • Ensure the application responds quickly without errors to confirm that the setup is completed and connected to the user account.

Step 7: Provide Access to Team Members

1. Notify the Team:
   • Inform relevant team members that the app has been installed.
2. Team member user account authorization:
   • The application is already connected to the Applaud instance URL, and each team member connects to the respective user account with the credentials.

Additional instructions (If Needed)

Disconnect user account

• Go to App Home:
  • In the Slack sidebar, navigate to "Apps," find the AskHR app, click the Home tab, and select Disconnect your account. Disconnect only the respective user but not all user accounts.

Connect to different Applaud instance

• Go to App Home:
  • In the Slack sidebar, navigate to "Apps," find the AskHR app, click on the Home tab, and select Disconnect Applaud.

Uninstallation

1. Go to App Management:
   • In the Slack sidebar, navigate to "Apps," find the AskHR app, click the About tab, and select Configuration.
2. Remove App:
   1. Go to the app’s settings or details page and look for the option to "Remove App."
   2. Confirm the removal, and Slack uninstalls the app from your workspace.
3. Notify the Team:
   • If your team used the app, notify them of the uninstallation.

If you're on the Enterprise Grid subscription, you can install the AskHR app at the org level and add it to any workspaces that need access.
