Subcategories are nested within parent categories and help you organize content into distinct sections, making it easier to understand and navigate.

Create a new subcategory
- From your Manage categories page, select the category where you want to add a subcategory.
- From the top-right corner, select NEW SUBCATEGORY.
- In the Title box, enter a meaningful title for the subcategory.
- In the Description box, write a summary of what the subcategory covers.

Under Thumbnail, select UPLOAD.
Use an image that helps identify the subcategory visually. This is an excellent opportunity for a branded image! 1792x1024 is a good size. Whatever you use, use the same size for all categories.

From the Sort order box, enter a number to represent the order in which the subcategory appears.
Use the sort order feature to manage the display sequence of subcategories: subcategories with lower numbers appear earlier in the list. You can insert a subcategory between two existing ones using decimal places. If you don't specify a number, the subcategory automatically takes the following available sequence number, positioning it at the end of the list by default.
- In the Parent category box, you will see that the category has been set automatically based on your selected one.
- Select the Manager-exclusive content option if you want to restrict the visibility of this subcategory to managers only.

Select the Hide in navigation option to prevent the subcategory from appearing in the knowledge base navigation.
Use this option for subcategories not yet ready to be publicly displayed or those you don't want to advertise. Published content within this subcategory will still be accessible through search results and other places.
- Select SAVE when you are happy with your choices.
Convert a category to a subcategory
- From your Manage categories page, select the three-dot menu on the category you want to convert.
- Select EDIT CATEGORY.
- From the Parent category list, select from the list of existing categories to nest your subcategory.
- Select SAVE when you are happy with your choices.
