In Applaud, if a page or block is linked to a model that allows anonymous users to view data, then search engines can also see and index that page. You can control whether search engines see the page by adjusting access levels and SEO settings. In short, if anonymous access is enabled for the model, search engines can index the page; if not, they cannot.
Access level controls
You manage access at the model level with an access control policy. See our knowledge base article, About access control policies.
To check if your page is available to anonymous users:
- Open the page in Edit mode.
- Select Settings.
Link to model option
- If the Link to model option is not selected and there are no blocks on the page linked to a model, you can't set the access level controls to anonymous.
- If the Link to model option is selected, the model name will appear. You can then check the model's access control page to see if the "Anonymous" role is applied.
Model access control page
If a page is linked to a model, open the Model access control page and check to see if there is a policy with the "Anonymous" Role and if it has the "Allow" Permission.
| Anonymous role setting | Effect on search engines |
|---|---|
| Anonymous + Allow | Any page linked to this model is visible to search engines and can be indexed. |
| Anonymous + Deny | Pages linked to this model are not visible to search engines and won’t be indexed. |
Important note on sensitive data
If a page is visible to anonymous users, it is also visible to search engines. To prevent sensitive data from being indexed:
- Configure the page's SEO settings.
- Hide or restrict any sensitive data.
For steps, see our knowledge base article, Configure your page settings.
