The Applaud platform supports a versatile range of options for you to design engaging content for your audiences and to work beautifully and responsively across all devices. The illustration below captures the different layout options available to you, and this article will show you how to configure each one.
Mobile and tablet devices default to a vertically stacked layout to ensure the most effective use of space. In contrast, you can configure masonry column layouts for larger devices such as laptops and desktops.
A single piece of content
You may want a page with a single piece of content for something like a news article or a knowledge based article that is not related to any other content in the platform. In this example, we have used the 'Rich text' content type.
Masonry - two columns
In this example, we have used the 'Call to action' content type to add the 'Take a vacation' image. We have also included the 'Search,' 'Form,' 'List,' and 'Analytics' content types.
Masonry - three columns
If you have a lot of content to add to your page, you may want to select a 3-column layout to reduce scrolling for the user.
Content stacked vertically
Small devices such as tablets and mobiles default to a stacked layout to ensure the most effective use of space; however, you may also want to configure this type of layout for larger devices such as laptops and desktops.
Left and right sidebars
The left and right sidebar options are really just a 3-column layout with the left or right content blocks sized to span two columns.
Hide or show blocks on specific devices
Each content block you create supports the option to show it or hide it depending on what device the user uses to view the content. For example, you may have a document viewer that lets users view their payslips; however, you only want this feature available on desktop and laptop devices. We must select 'Small' and 'Native' from the available options to hide on smaller devices.
See the table below for information on each device type.
Large | Desktop computers |
Medium | Laptops |
Small | Mobile and tablet web browsers. |
Native | Apps native to Android and iOS. |
Web | Any device using a web browser as opposed to a native app. |
