Pages in the Applaud platform contain content blocks that link to your models and either display or capture data. You do this by adding a content block to the page, which you configure to show or capture the values of the model's properties.
Content blocks
There are various types of content blocks. See the table for a description of all the content blocks you can add to your page and links to more information about each block.
An event or resource calendar with a list view, week view, month or year views. For example, to show important company events or show a list of employees and their booked events. |
An advert type block with information and an action button to make employees act. For example, choose their benefits options. |
A chart that displays data from a model. For example, showing expenses over a period. |
This block is like a form block but read-only. |
This displays a list of records and the document associated with them. |
A form that captures values for a model's properties. For example, new starts fill in their information. |
An organizational chart. |
Show a list of values from a model's properties. For example, a list of employees with additional information and useful actions. |
A sign-in widget. For example, you can get potential candidates to sign in to view a jobs page or replace the default sign-in form. |
A menu you can place on a page to open links to other pages, either internally or externally. |
Free text format. For example, you can add instructions or useful information to a page. |
A search box so that your employees can search your tenant for the information that they need. For example, to find a certain policy or user. |
The information is displayed in either a detail or form block overlapped and toggled to the front by a tab at the top of the block. |
Page headers
Page headers are bits of data you want to highlight to the user, see our knowledge base article, About page headers.
Page actions - Links
You can add an action to your page or content block to open another page from within your Applaud platform or a link to an external app.
Menus
You can add pages to menus, which can appear in various places, such as the global burger menu, a sub-menu, or even as a context menu on a list item.
Planning your design
Before you create a page, it's helpful to decide its purpose to help you build the content most effectively. Let's take a look at some page examples.
In the first example, we have created a page that contains a form block to capture values for a model's properties.
In this second example, we have created a page to act as an employee profile. We have built this page using a combination of rich text boxes, list blocks, and form blocks. We have created the submenu that you see under the employee name using a combination of additional pages to access related information in a user-friendly manner.
In this third example, we have created a page to act as a knowledge base section for anyone expecting a child. The idea is to bring all of your employees' information when expecting a child into one easy-to-navigate section. We have built this page using a combination of rich text boxes, list blocks, and form blocks.
