This article explains how to install the standard Applaud application from the Microsoft Teams App Store and connect it to your Applaud environment.
Prerequisites
Before you start, make sure you have:
- A Microsoft 365 account
- Access to Microsoft Teams
- Admin Approval (If your organization restricts app installations)
Install Applaud from the Teams app store
Step 1: Add the app
- Open Microsoft Teams and sign in with your Microsoft 365 account.
- Select Apps from the sidebar and search for Applaud.
- Select Add on the Applaud app page.
- Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
Step 2: Connect the Teams app to your Applaud environment
- Open Microsoft Teams and go to the Applaud app.
- In the chat with the Applaud bot, select Connect to Applaud.
- Enter your Application URL (for example: https://yourcompany.applaudcloud.com).
- Generate an API Key in your Applaud application and enter it in the API Key field.

Select Submit.
Note: The system allows only one active connection at a time. The user who establishes the connection becomes the Connection Owner and can manage or disconnect it. Other users have view-only access. After the owner disconnects, any user can reconnect and become the new Connection Owner.
Step 3: Authenticate your account
- Go to the Chat tab in the Applaud app.

Select Connect my account and sign in with your Applaud credentials.
Note: Once connected, users can interact with the bot without reconnecting. The system shows the Connect my account option only when a user record is missing, the email is unavailable, or the email or phone number doesn't match.
Step 4: Test the connection
Verify that the bot responds without errors to confirm the setup.
Manage Your Connection
Disconnect the app
- Open the Applaud app in Teams.
- Select the Chat tab.
- Select Disconnect Applaud or type disconnect.
Reconnect the app
- Open the Applaud app in Teams.
- Select the Chat tab.
- Select Connect to Applaud or type connect.
Uninstall the app
- Go to Manage Apps.
- Select Applaud.
- Select Remove.
Best practices
- Organization-wide deployment: IT or HR admins should deploy the Applaud app at the organizational level to avoid manual setup.
- Application URL: Only the Connection Owner can update the application URL. Ensure it matches the correct environment.
- Multi-region support: If your organization spans multiple regions, verify that the URL points to the correct regional data center.
- Disconnecting and reconnecting: Disconnecting the app affects the entire team. To reconnect, follow the steps in the Reconnect the app section.
